  • Login to Navigate (post account creation)
  • Access important pages using the main taskbar.
  • Search for different users
  • Determine which pages you should be accessing the most.

Training Items

  • Login to Navigate - your view of Navigate will depend on what sort of account/role and privileges you have
  • Review the left toolbar with symbols.
  • Focus on Home, Conversations, Calendar, Advanced Search
  • Quick Search: Demonstrate how to use the quick search.
    • Sample question: What is the best way to access different pages?

Learning Objectives

After completing this training, you will be able to:

  • Move around their home screen and tabs.
  • Create new availability.  Edit existing availability.
  • Sync your WCU Outlook calendars with Navigate calendars.
  • Identify specific student populations through the Advanced Search
  • Save relevant Student Lists or Saved Searches and understand the difference between the two.
  • Find student information in the Student Profile
  • Find the Conversations page and understand what communications are captured there. Identify the different ways that you can communicate with students within Navigate.

Training Items

  • Explore their Staff Home Page. Identify the tool they are most excited to start using.
  • Create at least one new appointment availability.
  • Sync their professional calendar (only on the Production site).
  • Save an Advanced Search of their students or another student population of interest.
  • Explore the Student Profile for one student.
  • Send an email to a group of students (only on the Training site).
  • Identify the tool they are most excited to start using.
  • Understand what communication tool to use in different situations. Sync your professional calendars with Navigate calendars.
  • Find a list of students. This can be from your Staff home (if users have assigned students) or via the search/advanced search.
    • Select multiple students and choose the “Send Message” action under “Actions.”
    • Try emailing and texting students.
    • Understand how emails in Navigate will be recorded.

Intended Audience Anyone who will need to link their schedule to Navigate to meet with students. Ex: faculty advisors, professional advisors, tutors, and other front-line staff

  • Understand what calendar sync does and how events scheduled in Navigate affect your work calendar and vice-versa.
  • Add and update your Availability in Navigate for when you are available to meet with students.
  • Understand what Availability in Navigate is and why it is crucial for being able to meet with students.

Training Items

  • Navigate to Availability and explain what Availability is.
  • Create availability for appointments, campaigns, and drop-ins.
  • Add an event on your work calendar and view the synced event on Navigate calendar.
  • Briefly check for understanding
  • Sample question: If I scheduled an event in my work calendar from 1-2 pm tomorrow and my availability for appointments tomorrow is 12 pm – 5 pm, would a student be able to schedule an appointment with me at 1 pm?
  • Sample question: If an appointment with a student is scheduled in Navigate, does that show up in my work calendar?
