Attendance Reports

In compliance with federal financial aid requirements, WCU Faculty are required to report student’s attendance at the start of the semester. The administration of federal student aid under Title IV of the Higher Education Act requires universities to determine whether or not financial aid must be returned for Title IV recipients who withdraw during the term. The proper calculation for the return of Title IV funds is dependent upon verifying attendance in academically related activities by faculty.

How and When

For Spring 24, faculty will receive an email from navigate@wcupa.edu inviting you to submit your start-of-term attendance rosters.

To complete this report, you simply need to click on the link in the forthcoming email titled Begin Entering Student Feedback for Add/Drop to take you to the report.

Attendance Reporting will begin on Monday, January 22nd, with a deadline of the end day on Wednesday, January 31st.

What is considered good attendance?

For this purpose, a student is considered in good attendance if they demonstrate academic engagement including attending classes, submitting assignments, engaging in online discussion, etc. For more details, please see WCU’s attendance verification policy and procedures .

Why do Navigate Attendance Reports Matter?

  1. Helps Students

We want students to engage with classes at the start of the semester. Attendance information is used to confirm engagement, which helps students access their financial aid, meal plans, and protects them from cancellation from classes.

  2. Federal Requirement

WCU is obligated to confirm attendance at the start of the semester to comply with federal financial aid requirements.

  3. Benefits WCU

Attendance information informs our Enrollment Snapshot at the start of the semester. This is the official record of the number of students enrolled in classes and influences the funding WCU receives

Remember, for this purpose, a student is considered in good attendance if they demonstrate academic engagement including attending class, submitting assignments, engaging in online conversations, etc.
