Service-Learning Faculty Associate
The Service-Learning Faculty Associate is an Alternate Work Assignment (3 credits per semester) for which WCU faculty may apply for a one-year appointment.
Job Description
The Service-Learning Faculty Associate works with the Director of Service-Learning and Volunteer Programs in a collaborative effort between the Divisions of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to promote, increase, and assess service-learning on campus.
Responsibilities
1. Develop strategies to strengthen existing partnerships and establish new relationships with academic departments to provide assistance to faculty with service-learning pedagogy, instructional design/course development, and access to resources
2. Coordinate service-learning faculty development opportunities and serve as Co-Chair of the Service-Learning Faculty Work Group
3. Conduct an annual assessment of service-learning, disseminate results to relevant stakeholders, and provide recommendations based on findings
4. Educate the campus community as well as community agencies on the differences between community service and service-learning courses. Link agency requests with potential service-learning courses. Initiate outreach to academic departments with little or no service-learning courses.
