RamCorps

The Center for Civic Engagement and Social Impact (CCESI) invites students interested in public service & positive social change to apply for RamCorps. RamCorps is a civic leadership program for WCU students committed to the ideals of public service, active citizenship, and the promotion of positive social change. The program offers a variety of opportunities for students to positively impact the university and wider communities while completing their programs of study at WCU. In addition to receiving on-going leadership and development training, RamCorps members may be eligible to receive financial compensation to help them sustain their passion and commitment to contributing to the common good.

Resource Pantry Ambassadors 

The Resource Pantry, located within The Center for Civic Engagement & Social Impact, supports student success by minimizing food and basic need insecurity and preparing students for life after graduation.  Resource Pantry Ambassadors are responsible for assisting students accessing the pantry, processing donations, maintaining pantry inventory via PantrySoft.

This is a Federal Work Study position beginning at $12/hour pending Financial Aid's approval of the applicant's work study appointment.

RamCorps Summer Associate 

The AmeriCorps Summer Associates will perform a variety of tasks to ensure the Resource Pantry is accessible over the summer.  Tasks include overseeing day-to-day Pantry operations, developing strategies for fundraisers and food drives for the next academic year, and creating outreach, educational, and recruitment materials for the Resource Pantry.

This is a 9-week, full time position between May 24th-July 23, 2021.  Benefits include a $1300 education stipend and a bi-weekly living stipend.

RamCorps Organizing for Social Action (OSA) Leaders 

RamCorps *Organizing Social Action (OSA) members spend between 6–10 hours per week working closely with peer leaders and CCESI staff to identify, develop, and promote opportunities through which WCU students can learn more about- and address some of society’s most pressing issues of public concern. Based on their experience, passion, and knowledge, RamCorps OSA members are selected and assigned to one the following issues:

o   RamCorps OSA for Educational Equity

o   RamCorps OSA for Food and Housing Security 

o   RamCorps OSA for Health Equity

o   RamCorps OSA for Environmental Justice

This is a Federal Work Study position beginning at $14/hour pending Financial Aid's approval of the applicant's work study appointment. 
Non-Federal Work Study Eligible applicants will receive a $500 stipend per semester.

Resource Pantry Coordinators 

The Resource Pantry, located within The Center for Civic Engagement & Social Impact, supports student success by minimizing food and basic need insecurity and preparing students for life after graduation.  Resource Pantry Coordinators are assigned Special Projects that will assist in long-term Pantry development.  Available positions are:

·      Marketing & Outreach Coordinator 

·      Inventory & Procurement Coordinator 

·      Events & Donor Relations Coordinator

America Reads Site Leader 

The America Reads Site Leader will serve 8-10 hours per week working with WCU’s America Reads Youth Mentoring Program which connects WCU students with off-campus community agencies facilitating after-school academic enrichment programs.  The Site Leader is responsible for serving 2-3 days a week at their assigned site, recruiting new mentors to their site, and facilitating educational workshops related to education equity.

Office Assistant 

The Office Assistant will work 8-10 hours per week providing administrative support to the Center for Civic Engagement & Social Impact.  Duties include providing customer service to CCESI visitors both in-person and through the center’s WebChat feature, supporting staff with coordinating logistics for in-person & virtual events, assisting with CCESI events, generating promotional materials and more. 

This is a Federal Work Study position beginning at $10/hour pending the applicant’s financial aid package.
