Steps to Complete your Application

  • Apply Online - $50 non-refundable application fee required; paid by credit card
  • Personal statement
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Official transcript from all undergraduate/graduate coursework listed on your application
  • Supplemental materials if required by your chosen program of study

General Admissions Requirements

  • Applicants must have a baccalaureate degree from a college or university accredited in the United States or the equivalent from a foreign college or university prior to enrollment. An official transcript must be sent from each institution listed on your application. Many schools offer official transcripts to be sent electronically. If selecting this option, please have the school send it directly to
  • A minimum 2.8 undergraduate GPA (on a 4.0 scale) is required for most programs. Please note some programs may require a higher GPA requirement. Refer to program website for more information.
  • Personal goal statement can be submitted within the online application. Some programs may require specific questions to address. If goal statement is not included when submitting the application, please email it to
  • Two letters of recommendation are required for most programs. Some programs may require additional letters. On the application, there is a section to include contact information for two recommenders. After the application is submitted, each recommender will receive directions and a form to complete the letter of recommendation electronically. Alternatively, each recommender can choose to send a letter of recommendation directly to All letters of recommendation MUST be sent directly from recommenders.
  • If required by program of choice, official scores from the GRE or GMAT must be submitted.

  • Assistantships (GA) - A graduate assistantship is an opportunity to work on campus in a research or service-oriented capacity in order to gain valuable work experience in higher education or an academic field and earn a tuition waiver and stipend. Read more about Graduate Assistantships.
  • Employer Support - Employer support can come in the form of partial or even full reimbursement. If you are currently working, check with your Human Resources Department about educational benefits offered to you. The Employer Reimbursement Plan allows participants to defer their tuition payments to WCU until after the term has been completed.
