MARLENE
MILLER
Major: Music Theory and Composition/English Composition
Hometown: West Grove, PA
Expected Graduation: 2020
Why did you decide to attend West Chester University?
So many reasons. It's close to home, in-state, and a great music school.
What is your favorite thing about the Wells School of Music?
The people. The faculty are all so encouraging, the students are like a family, and
the atmosphere is one of self-improvement.
What didn't you know about the Wells School of Music before you came to WCU?
I really didn't know anything about the composition staff. There was no way I could
have imagined them being as cool as they are. Also, I had no idea the opportunities
I'd be faced with – there are so many learning opportunities.
What do you plan to do after graduation?
I haven't quite figured that out yet. I hope to do what I love: write - music and
words. My ultimate goal is to make people think, I mean really consider, things. I
want people to question their preconceived notions and hopefully open their minds
a little bit more.
What would you like to tell students considering WCU or the Wells School of Music?
Students who consider the Wells School of Music need to know a lot of things. For
one, this school is top-notch. You don't have to go to an outrageously expensive school
to get a fantastic education in music. Also, the people here are unlike any you will
ever meet anywhere else. I can't imagine going to another school.
