What's in my Application?

A complete application to the Master of Business Administration program includes:

  1. All official undergraduate transcripts, and any official graduate transcripts;
  2. Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) scores (unless a waiver is granted by the Graduate Director);
  3. A detailed, professional essay that addresses the applicant's career plans, and the applicant's professional or academic background in the Prerequisite Knowledge Areas of Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Management, and Statistics;
  4. A current resume; and
  5. Three letters of recommendation. At least one of the letters of recommendation must be from a professional supervisor or colleague. The program will accept a professor's recommendation in lieu of a professional recommendation for traditional students without work experience.

I am a current WCU undergraduate student in a non-business major

Plan ahead!  Satisfy the 6 prerequisite knowledge area requirements via WCU business courses in your free elective space or by demonstrated experience (internship or work history) while you complete your 120-credit, regionally accredited bachelor's degree for MBA admission.  Your admission will be conditional on your undergraduate graduation and fulfillment of all the requirements below.   You qualify for full admission if you demonstrate:

  1. that you are in your final semester prior to earning your bachelor’s degree from West Chester
  2. you earn a 3.3 GPA at undergraduate degree completion
  3. earned grades of B or better in the 6 prerequisite knowledge area requirements (unless waived by internship or work history that satisfies a prerequisite requirement).
  4. 5 years' business experience (waived in many cases)

If this is you, we will waive your GMAT.

If you don't meet these requirements, don't worry.   We have pathways to admission, and other conditional and provisional programs, too.

I have a graduate degree

If you have a graduate degree then you qualify for admission if you demonstrate:

  1. a graduate degree from a regionally accredited college
  2. a 3.0 GPA from both your graduate and undergraduate degrees
  3. proficiency in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, Marketing & Statistics through coursework, training, certifications and licenses and/or professional experience

If this is you, we will waive your GMAT and experience requirements.

If you don't meet these requirements, don't worry.   We have pathways to admission, and conditional and provisional programs, too.

I want to transfer graduate MBA credits

We accept transfer students from other accredited MBA programs.   You qualify for admission if you demonstrate:

  1. good standing in your former MBA program (currently or at the time you left that program), with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  2. proficiency in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, Marketing & Statistics through coursework, training, certifications/designations and/or professional experience

If this is you, we will waive your GMAT and experience requirements.   Up to 9 credits of your prior MBA coursework is transferable to West Chester at the discretion of the Graduate Director if the courses and the institution offering them are of a comparable level and rigor.

If you don't meet these requirements, don't worry.   We have pathways to admission, and conditional and provisional programs, too.

What if I'm not ready?

Don’t worry – we can advise you on the best steps to take to prepare for your MBA if you don't meet prerequisite, grade, or experience requirements.

We will work with you to make sure that you are prepared for your MBA.   Every situation is different, and we likely have admissions solutions available for you.
