WCU SEPTA Discount Monthly Pass Sales Program
West Chester University is pleased to offer SEPTA Key Commuter to its students and employees. This opt-in benefit program offers discounted monthly fare products (TransPasses, TrailPasses, and Cross County Pass) for university employees and students. WCU employees and students can purchase discounted fare products through West Chester University electronically each month. Fare products are loaded right onto individuals’ SEPTA Key cards, allowing them to take advantage of the SEPTA system.
This collaboration between West Chester University and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) provides six types of discounted monthly commuter passes :
- TransPasses , valid for travel on all Buses, Trolleys, Trackless Trolleys, the Norristown High Speed Line, Broad Street and Market Frankford Line, at all times, and
- Zones: 1
- TrailPasses , valid for regional rail trips for the appropriate zones purchased and on all other
transit routes (bus, trolley, trackless trolley, and subway).
- Zones: 1,2,3, Anywhere + Cross County

SEPTA provides transit service to West Chester and Philadelphia locations that many WCU students and employees use for their regular commutes. WCU faculty and staff may purchase monthly passes, which are available as a direct-load product on a SEPTA Key Card at a 10% discount. The five-percent discount provided by SEPTA is matched by WCU’s five-percent subsidy.

How to buy a WCU Discounted SEPTA Monthly Pass
Follow the three simple steps outlined below.
Please be aware that there are charges associated with getting a SEPTA Key card (step 1): There is a card registration fee of $4.95. To activate your new card, you will need to add funds in the minimum amount of either $1, if activating at a Fare Kiosk, or $5, if activating in person at any SEPTA Sales Office. The total amount will be credited to your SEPTA Travel Wallet.
Purchasing a SEPTA Key Discount Monthly Pass through WCU requires a three-step process:

Buy a SEPTA Key Card at any of these locations, including at the SSI Service Counter on the ground floor of Sykes Student Union (110 West Rosedale Avenue).
- ) Register / Activate
Register / activate your SEPTA Key Card at www.septakey.org.
- ) Sign in to Buy Discounted SEPTA Monthly Passes
Sign in to the WCU SEPTA Discount Monthly Pass sales site to complete your purchase.
Orders for discounted monthly SEPTA passes must be made by the 20th day of the preceding month. For example, to purchase a discounted monthly pass for the month of October, the order must be placed on the WCU Discount SEPTA Pass sales form by September 20th.
