Curriculum Vitae

Áine Palmer received her Ph.D. in Music History from Yale University in 2026. In her research, which has been supported by prizes including the Alvin H. Johnson AMS 50, Chateaubriand, and BAEF fellowships, she focuses primarily on medieval music anthologies, asking how song and the ideas about love and the self that it transmits were changed by changes in manuscript production in the 13th century. Áine’s writing has been published in the Journal of the Society for Musicology in Ireland and Early Music America, and she shares her research regularly at national and international conferences. In her classroom, Áine puts a diverse array of music in dialogue with challenging critical ideas to help students explore questions about culture, society, and the self.
