DI Preselect Application Information

Are you a WCU DPD or MSCN program graduate or a current DPD/MSCN student who would like to apply to our dietetic internship (DI) program early and possibly be preselected before the Spring Match?  

If so, see if you meet one of the criteria below:

  1. Current WCU MSCN students
  2. WCU Accelerated BS to MSCN students
  3. WCU DPD or MSCN program graduates
  4. Current WCU DPD non-accelerated students with intention to begin the MSCN Fall 2024

All students must hold an undergraduate DPD verification statement or DOI statement to apply to the DI program.

Important Dates for Preselect Application

Dates Information

Now - November 2024

  • Review WCU DI website and handbook for more information
  • Indicate that you will be applying to our Dietetic Internship program as a Preselect Candidate by filling out this survey 2023 WCU Preselect Applicant Survey.

By November 20, 2023

Preselect process will NOT be in DICAS for 2023.

All application material to be submitted to DI Director directly or by US mail to be received by November 20, 2023 at 4:30 pm EST.

Required Material for November 20, 2023 deadline:

WCU Preselect deadline Monday, November, 20, 2023, in to DI Director by 4:30 pm EST.

The Week of December 4th, 2023

Virtual Interviews will be conducted with preselect candidates and the selection committee.

By December 15, 2023

  • All preselected applicants will be notified of WCU DI program acceptance status.
  • Applicants must accept or deny their placement in the WCU DI in writing via email to the program director by December 18, 2023
  • If a preselect candidate is accepted to the program and the candidate accepts the spot in the WCU DI program, the student may not apply to other FEM or DI programs.

December 2023 - February 15, 2024

  • Students not accepted during the preselect process can reapply to WCU DI program through DICAS for Spring Match.  Candidates will need to register through D&D Digital and change their matching status in DICAS 
  • Students may also apply to other DI programs during this time.

By February 14, 2024

  • Accepted preselect interns must submit the following documents by February 14, 2024 to DI Director to retain spot in DI program
  • Secure site preceptors for community and clinical I rotations using the DI Preceptor Selection and Commitment Form
  • When contacting potential preceptors, send them the applicable rotation checklist at the bottom of this page. This will inform preceptors of required CRDNs and activities.
  • Submit DI Distance Rotation Schedule Template
  • Submit DPD Statement or DOI statement
  • Submit Recency of Education Form* if DPD was earned 5+ years ago

By End of Spring Semester 2024

  • Accepted preselect interns must submit the following documents by end of the Spring semester 2024 to DI Director to remain spot in DI program
  • Secure site preceptors for food service and clinical II rotations using the DI Preceptor Selection and Commitment Form
  • When contacting potential preceptors, send them the applicable rotation checklist at the bottom of this page. This will inform preceptors of required CRDNs and activities.
