Preceptor Orientation Checklist
The NDEP Development Committee developed a general orientation checklist for preceptors to use. The purpose of this checklist is to be a starter orientation template for preceptors to use and modify to fit their facility.

Guide to Being an Effective Preceptor Part 1
Preceptors can earn 1 CPEU by viewing the NDEP webinar from 2017 titled, "Guide to
Being an Effective Preceptor." The webinars main objectives are to: differentiate
effective versus ineffective preceptors, identify characteristics of effective preceptors,
demonstrate how to be an effective preceptor and mentor.

Guide to Being an Effective Preceptor Part 2
Preceptors can earn 1 CPEU by viewing the Part 2 of the NDEP webinar from 2020 titled, "Guide to Being an Effective Preceptor Part 2." The webinars main objectives are to: recognize important aspects of orienting new interns, distinguish characteristics of interns in relation to helping them succeed, demonstrate effective oral feedback provision for interns, select appropriate intern evaluation tools, and identify strategies to overcome challenges in different rotations. Presented by WCU’s Assistant Professor of Nutrition, Dr. Sandy Sarcona, and Dietetic Internship Director, Becky Wojcik.

*This program is approved for RDs, RDNs, DTRs and NDTRs under Activity Type 175 in accordance with CDR guidelines. RDs and RDNs may claim up to 15 CPEUs under this CPE Activity Type in a recertification cycle; DTRs and NDTRs may claim up to 10 CPEUs.
CPEUs for Precepting
As of June 1, 2017, preceptors may record a total of 15 CPEUs per 5-year cycle for precepting and/or leadership on your Activity Log. For more information and to obtain the necessary forms, visit the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
CDR’s Preceptor Training Program
The Commission on Dietetic Registration has an 8 CPEU Preceptor Training Program available free of charge. To locate this training, visit the CDR online training campus.
