Transfer Students

Internal and External Transfer Candidates

The following policies apply to all transfer candidates upon entering the department.

  • Internal transfer - Students [undeclared/change of major] seeking admission to the Department of Special Education must have earned a minimum of 27 college level credits at WCU with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.90.

  • External transfer - Students will apply for admission through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Once admitted to the Special Education major, students will contact the Department via specialeducation@wcupa.edu to schedule a transfer meeting. Transfer credit for 100 and 200-level general education courses will be granted in accordance with University policy. Professional and specialized preparation courses will be evaluated by the department and approved on a case-by-case basis. Students who do not meet eligibility for admission to the Special Education major will work with their first WCU department until they are eligible for internal transfer to the Special Education major.
