Conferences

The Northeast Conference on Public Administration (NECoPA) is taking place online on November 6th and 7th, 2020. Your attendance is invited, and as a student, you are eligible for complimentary admission. NECoPA is an annual conference of scholars and practitioners of public service, public management, and public policy, and is a collaborative endeavor intended to foster discussions on research and practice in public and nonprofit organizations. Here are three benefits of attending:

Learning Opportunities
·    Conferences provide students with a unique opportunity to learn about new dimensions of public service, the strategies managers employ to address problems, and the research methodologies that academics use to study issues in the public sector.

Presentation Opportunities
·    Presenting can be an intimidating idea to those who have never done so before. If this is your first conference presentation, NECoPA 2020’s online platform will make it easy for you to overcome nerves while you present from the comfort of home. If you’re not presenting at NECoPA 2020, there’s still plenty to be gained from watching how others present their work. Learn more about submitting a proposal here.

Network with academics and practitioners
·    For many students, networking is a daunting endeavor during a conference. While it’s not easy to approach experienced researchers, the benefits of doing so are immense. By expressing an interest in others’ research, asking questions, and making connections both socially and academically, you can open the door to research collaborations, working relationships, potential dissertation committee members, and future job opportunities. NECoPA will present innovative and meaningful networking opportunities in its virtual form.
