Sabrina said that the choice of combining Women & Gender Studies with health sciences came from their desire to work in women’s health. Being a student in Women’s and Gender Studies combined with my other activities on campus helped me develop an interest in gender advocacy.” Sabrina advocates for the LGBTQ community and has a strong interest in gender inclusion on campus. As a resident assistant, they are working towards accessible and affordable housing for all genders on campus. Some progress has been made; however, there is still work to be done for gender inclusion on campus. In the future, Sabrina aims to pursue a Masters in Social Work and eventually a PHD in Gender and Sexuality Studies.
WGST helped me to prepare to achieve my goals mostly by showing me that I have a voice. The department and the professors in it have encouraged me to speak my mind, express my opinions, and continue to learn.
