FALL DANCE CONCERT
ScreenDance

Presented by: West Chester University of Pennsylvania, College of Arts and Humanities, Department of Theatre and Dance, University Dance Company

November 5, 2020 at 7:30 p.m.

The focus of the University Dance Company (UDC) is to promote dance as an art form at West Chester University and to provide students the opportunity to create and shape their expressive voice within this art form. UDC has two concerts every season. Due to COVID this year, our fall concert is exploring the realm of ScreenDance, a hybrid art form that focuses on the relationship between the moving body and the camera, elevated through the cinematic editing process. Associate professor and artistic director Liz Staruch taught a series of instructional workshops at the start of this Fall semester to support and encourage students to present their ideas in this medium. Community outreach and service is a component of membership to this organization as it currently is for all professional arts organizations. UDC also offers students the opportunities to attend, present and perform at various annual conferences, including the American College Dance Association, to add to their dance and movement education.

Your continued support of WCU Theatre and Dance through your attendance here tonight is greatly appreciated. If you would like to make a donation to support future productions, please call 610-436-2266 M-F 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or email TheatreDance@wcupa.edu. We look forward to sharing with you our next endeavors in dance at WCU.

Up Next: She Kills Monsters: Virtual Realms by Qui Nguyen – November 12, 2020 at 7:30pm

She Kills Monsters: Virtual Realms by Qui Nguyen is a comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games that tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons and Dragons notebook, however, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly’s refuge. This production will work collaboratively with Philadelphia’s Die-Cast, a company dedicated to creating immersive work that is tailored to specific non-traditional venues.

Donations are encouraged.
