How to Make the Library Work to Your Advantage

Deana-Leah Forbes - December 2019

Are you the type of person who lives in the library and get all your work done? Or are you the type that goes occasionally, but may not always find it to be the most productive? Well, this survival guide is here to help you master the library to fit your every need.

  1. If you are a talker, enjoy silence, or just want to cram for your next test, here are some tips for you:If you are looking for a place to chill with friends or maybe eat your lunch in between classes… DING DING the library is the place you are looking for.

    1. There are tables in and outside the Starbucks attached to the bottom floor of the library. So, if you want to grab food, Starbucks is right inside. (Bring some headphones, you never know how long you will be waiting in that line.)

    2. The library is also food friendly so you can eat wherever you want. Just remember to clean up after yourself.

    3. The first floor of the library is the social floor; however, people still stay pretty quiet they opened a room that is just for conversation.

  2. If you are looking for a quiet place to study or read. It is OBVIOUS, that you would go to the library. However, some people find it distracting with other people around even if they are quiet. Well the library has many rooms that you can check out, quiet floors, and within the quiet floors more quiet rooms. (Remember if you go in these rooms to SHHHHHHHH and be mindful of others studying.)

  3. If you are looking for a place where you can be proactive and be around others who are hustling to finish assignments. The second floor is for you! The second floor has a mix of various students so that there is never a dull moment. It will keep you on your toes with groups meeting, laptop users, non-stop printing.

    1. Another pro is that the front desk is always available to help you with any of your needs in a speedy manner.

    2. Please use the second floor if you are ready for the focus and fast pace because there is always lots of productivity happening.

  4. Your class is over, and you are just looking for a place to catch up on Grey’s Anatomy and grab a coffee while you wait for your next class. Guess what? The library has you covered!

    1. Starbucks for your coffee/pastry needs.

    2. You can watch your show anywhere you want. (I recommend wearing headphones, not everyone wants you to spoil what happens in the episode Also, people are doing work of course.)

I hope all these tips have opened your mind to explore the depths of the library. (P.S. they have comfy chairs and a crazy number of outlets)
