The Office of Service-Learning and Volunteer Programs promotes community-engaged learning experiences that address critical community needs by building mutually beneficial partnerships and empowering students to be active citizens in their local, national and global communities. The office works directly with more than 300 local agencies, connecting students and student organizations with impactful volunteer opportunities through our online directory and volunteer fairs. We also coordinate the America Reads Youth Mentoring Program and the new WCU Resource Pantry. For students seeking opportunities to learn and serve beyond the West Chester community, we coordinate several annual Alternative Break Trip, both domestic and international. We also work with WCU faculty to develop service-learning courses and study abroad programs that integrate community service with an academic curriculum.

West Chester University is a member of the PA Campus Compact and is proud to be listed on the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. In addition, The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has awarded WCU the Community Engagement Classification.
