The Center for Civic Engagement & Social Impact (CCESI) promotes community-based learning experiences that address issues of public concern by building mutually beneficial partnerships and empowering students to be active citizens in their local, national and global communities. The Center works directly with more than 200 local agencies, connecting students and student organizations with opportunities to make a positive impact in their communities.

CCESI houses the WCU Resource Pantry which supports student success by minimizing food and basic need security and preparing students for life after graduation. We coordinate the America Reads Youth Mentoring Program, RamCorps, and annual Alternative Break Trips for students who want to serve within and beyond the Chester County community. We also work with WCU faculty to develop service-learning courses and study abroad programs that integrate community service with an academic curriculum.

West Chester University is a member of the PA Campus Compact and is proud to be awarded the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. In addition, WCU is one of only 11 Pennsylvania universities and 359 institutions nationwide that have received the 2020 Carnegie Community Engagement Classification.
