Association for Emission Control by Catalysis
AECC are the international association of European companies making technologies for automobile exhaust emissions control.
The members of AECC are companies operating worldwide in the development, testing and manufacture of autocatalysts, ceramic and metallic substrates and specialty materials incorporated into the catalytic converter. This includes catalyst, adsorber and filter-based systems for the control of gaseous and particulate emissions from diesel and other lean burn engines.

Catalyst-equipped cars were first introduced in the USA in 1974 but only appeared on European roads in 1985 and were legislated for in 1993. Now more than 275 million of the world's 500 million cars and over 85% of all new cars produced worldwide are equipped with autocatalysts. Catalytic converters are also increasingly fitted on heavy-duty vehicles, motorcycles and off-road engines and vehicles
