University Action Plan

In 2015, all universities in the State System were required to develop multi-year action plans that detail each university's goals and aspirations, strategic priorities, challenges and opportunities. These plans are updated annually to provide the Board of Governors, Council of Trustees, and other external constituencies with the opportunity to learn more about each institution. Perhaps more importantly, the action plans provide a moment of reflection and shared conversation about our hopes and dreams for the coming years.

Below you will find links to each of the five parts of last year's University Action Plan. To assist in your review, we have highlighted the portions of the plan that were changed in response to feedback received from across the university community. We ask that you review each section and provide suggestions for revisions for this year's update. Please provide your feedback using the respective feedback button by Friday March 3, 2017.

This section provides us with the opportunity to describe the university's purpose and primary objectives for success. It asks us to describe our goals and aspirations for the years ahead. In this section we describe the strategy for fulfilling the institution’s vision and mission, within the context of our current strengths, challenges, and available resources.

Feedback

An Academic Program of Distinction is defined as a two-digit CIP level, which includes general groups of related programs such as Business and Education. For WCU, we ask that you suggest 3 to 4 Academic Programs of Distinction that meet one or more of the following criteria: 1) National Ranking/Accreditation; 2) Unique to our institution - only WCU offers; 3) Recognized prominence, i.e. graduate acceptance rate.

Feedback

Each university must identify admirable characteristics and accomplishments, including services, programs, student success, and community engagement. In this section, we outline other areas of distinction.

Feedback

This section outlines the initiatives/strategies that will drive improvement towards our strategic goals. We are required to describe how those goals align with the System strategic goals.

Feedback

This section provides us with the opportunity to identify our strengths, opportunities and challenges that we will be addressing (currently or within the next 3 years), including financial conditions, enrollment trends, community/regional engagement, and student experiences and outcomes.
