Senior Associate to the President
Rachel Shearer joined the staff of the Office of the President in June 2018. In her role, Rachel provides strategic leadership to the Office of the President as well as representing the President to all internal and external constituency groups. Rachel acts as the scheduler for the President; serves as the executive secretary to the Council of Trustees and ensures all meetings meet the state law covering public government meetings. In addition, she ensures that all presidential reports required by the State System are accurate and submitted in a timely fashion.
Erika Bair provides administrative and clerical support to the President, Chief of Staff and Executive Deputy to the President, and Senior Associate to the President. She is the receptionist for the Office of the President, handles the processing of financial obligations, and assists in planning events.
Information Center Staff
Ruthanne Ellsworth is one of the first point of contacts in the Office of the President. She is responsible for greeting visitors to campus, answering and directing phone calls, mail circulation, scheduling meetings and maintaining the Philips Building calendar.
Writer/Researcher to the President
Margo McDonough is responsible for communications strategy and delivery for the Office of the President. She assists the President in researching and preparing oral remarks. She creates online and print communications for internal and external audiences to support the University's strategic plan and accurately reflect the University's mission, values and policies.
Information Center Staff
Kate Pawlowski manages the Information Desk at Philips Memorial Building. She greets visitors to campus, answers and directs phone calls, oversees building maintenance and maintains the Philips Building calendar. She also serves as an advocate for mental health awareness on campus as chairperson of WCU's Mental Health Awareness Committee and as one of Chester County's certified Mental Health First Aid Trainers.
Vice President for University Affairs
John Villella provides advice and counsel to the President. He serves as the liaison between the Office of the President and the Pennsylvania State System Office and external agencies. He oversees WCU's departments/offices of Alumni Affairs, Cultural and Community Affairs, Publication Services, Public Relations and Marketing, Sustainability, and Social Equity. He also is the University liaison's to the West Chester University Foundation. As the University's Governmental Relations Officer, he coordinates interaction with local and state governmental officials and manages external relations initiatives, including engagement with corporate and community partners.
