Mary McCormick, MSS, LCSW has been teaching part time as adjunct faculty in the BSW program since 1998. In addition to her role as faculty field liaison for the past 17 years, Mary most often teaches the senior seminar, but has also taught several courses throughout the curriculum.
As a clinical social worker, Professor. McCormick maintains a generalist private practice, where she works with both adolescents and adults, providing therapy with individuals, couples and families presenting with a wide range of issues across the lifespan. Professor McCormick has worked in a variety of social work settings including, addictions/rehab, psychiatric hospitals, and outpatient mental health counseling services. She obtained her BA degree from the University of Detroit, and her Master’s degree in clinical social work from Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research in 1990. Mary's areas of clinical interest and research include the neurobiology of addiction and recovery at all stages of life. Professor McCormick also focuses on the impact of race, class, faith, and culture differences within intimate relationships
