ADAPTED PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
WEDNESDAY NIGHT PROGRAM
The APA Wednesday Night Program has been a mainstay at West Chester University for 40 years! Children and young adults, ages 5 to 22 with a variety of disabilities participate in various motor skills, fitness, sport skills, and physical activities to increase their skill performance, balance, overall fitness and wellbeing, and sport knowledge and skills. Each group is led by an Adapted Physical Activity minor along with a one on one undergraduate student to aid in individualized instruction, feedback, and skill correction, along with encouragement and motivation. The program runs for approximately 8- 10 weeks in the Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall semester consists primarily of gym activities while the Spring semester is split between the gym and pool, providing participants with valuable aquatic safety and swim instruction. Weekly progress notes are written to the families to keep them updated with progress throughout the program.
