Dr. Christina Chiarelli-Helminiak awarded the NASW-PA Teacher of the Year!

Congratulations Dr. Tina!!! The NASW-PA selected Dr. Tina Chiarelli-Helminiak as the 2021 social work educator of the year! The annual social work educator of the year honors a member of the National Assoication of Social Workers. PA Chapter, who teaches at a CSWE-accredited social work program and has demonstrated outstanding contributions as a leader in social work education both in terms of advancing education for students and elevating/promoting the profession as a whole through advocacy and research. The award was presented during NASW-PA's annual conference. Thank you for all that you do for our students, and our program!

Dr. Tina Chiarelli-Helminiak, MSW, PHD is an advocate for human rights and social justice in and outside of the classroom. Although students have a focus on the clinical realm of social work, Dr. Tina pushes for her students to become engaged in social justice and human rights on a macro level. She brought the Campaign School for Social Workers to West Chester University and the Philadelphia Region to challenge students to become involved in policy and have the confidence to run for office as social workers are directly involved with individuals, families, and communities.
