1950s

Joseph A. Margolis ’58 was honored with the Golden Ram Award as part of the WCU Athletics Hall of Fame celebration in April in recognition of outstanding accomplishments during his career.

1970s

The late Thomas D. McCarthy ’70 is remembered for his contributions to both education and gymnastics. He taught music in the Boyertown School District for five years before co-founding Berks Gymnastics Academy in 1975 with his wife Sandi. The Academy quickly grew into a highly respected and nationally recognized gymnastics academy under their leadership. His dedication and expertise earned him national and international recognition as he coached in 31 countries throughout the world. Notably, he coached the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team at the 1983 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary; the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles; and the 1985 World Championships in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Edward L. Skalamera ’76 was inducted into the 2026 National Collegiate Boxing Association Hall of Fame. He was also inducted into the WCU Sports Club Hall of Fame as a coach for the 1977 boxing team at the WCU Student Recreation Center during 2025 Homecoming Weekend.

1980s

Susanne C. Brenner ’80 received the 2025 Blaise Pascal Medal in Computational and Information Sciences from the European Academy of Sciences (EurASc) in honor of her outstanding and demonstrated personal contributions to science and technology and the promotion of excellence in research and education.

Dennis J. Bauer M’83 was elected vice-chairman of the Bucks County Board of Health; he is also a member of the Bucks County Medical Reserve Corps. Bauer retired from the Bucks County Department of Health in 2015 as an environmental health supervisor and National Environmental Health Association Registered Environmental Health Specialist.

James Brett Taylor ’84 retired from the City of Wilmington, DE, as director of finance in May, ending a 40-year career in public service.

Debra A. Dreisbach ’86 received a Fulbright Scholar teaching award for the fall 2026 semester. The Fulbright Scholar award recognizes excellence in teaching while fostering international collaboration and cross-cultural understanding; Dreisbach will teach criminal justice courses at a university in North Macedonia. She is currently an assistant teaching professor and program coordinator of the criminal justice program at Penn State Lehigh Valley.

1990s

Leslie E. Heisman ’90 was named executive director of Chester County Lifelong Learning. Founded in 1955, the organization provides enriching and engaging classes for adults and a summer camp for kids.

Jyl C. Barlow ’93 has been named the firstplace winner in the global human-interest category of the 2026 Erma Bombeck Writing Competition. Barlow’s essay, “The Tiny Traveling Urn”, was selected from a competitive field of 509 entries representing 45 states and 14 countries. Barlow is a writer and author whose work explores personal narrative, family dynamics, grief, humor, and the emotional threads that connect everyday experiences.

Joshua E. Lickter ’93 was consecrated as a bishop by the Episcopal Free Fellowship of America, where he now oversees new church development. He is continuing his duties as a priest at Incarnation Anglican Church in Roseville, CA, a small congregation he started 18 years ago. Lickter and his wife also own the Fig Tree Coffee Art & Music Lounge, a hub of local culture that hosts live music Tuesday through Saturday.

David G. McLaughlin ’93 was promoted to vice president of sales and marketing, United States entities for Duchesnay Pharmaceutical Group. He oversees sales and marketing for three U.S. pharmaceutical companies under the DPG umbrella: Duchesnay USA (women’s health), Medunik USA (rare disease) and Analog Pharma (generics).

Tanya L. Miller ’97, MS, LAT, ATC, CES has been chosen for induction into the Pennsylvania Athletic Training Hall of Fame for 2026. Miller’s extensive and impactful contributions to the profession of athletic training in the Commonwealth have ranged from championing the legislative and licensing efforts of athletic trainers as chair of the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers Society (PATS) Governmental Affairs Committee (2011 – present) to serving on the PATS executive board and being the liaison between PATS and the State Boards of Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine. Currently the assistant director of sports medicine at Shippensburg University, she has been involved in national and state governmental affairs work, been part of the medical teams for NCAA Division II national, regional, and state events; and has authored and presented clinically relevant publications on emergency action planning and guidelines for sports participation in hot and cold weather.

Andrew B. Bradley ’98 was inducted into the WCU Athletics Hall of Fame for men’s diving in April.

2000s

Greta A. Neff ’04 was inducted into the WCU Athletics Hall of Fame for women’s volleyball and women’s basketball in April.

Joseph A. Sannutti ’05 was one of three Gallery House artists to have their work exhibited at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France, in April. Sannutti is a Philadelphia-based artist who creates bold, immersive work at the intersection of music, energy, and emotion; his pieces blend mixed media with vibrant color and movement and are designed not just to be seen, but felt.

Tammy Leane ’06 was inducted into the WCU Athletics Hall of Fame for women’s swimming in April.

Nicole P. DeVault M’07 completed her post-graduate licensure coursework at WCU in 2010 and is now a licensed professional counselor specializing in trauma and anxiety. In spring 2025, she opened Nikki DeVault Therapy, LLC, a private practice in West Chester, PA, where she continues to serve her local community.

Mary Beth Green ’09 was inducted into the WCU Athletics Hall of Fame for women’s lacrosse in April.

2010s

Samuel D. Scott, Jr. ’10 joined the University of New Hampshire football program as a defensive line coach in February. The 2024 Killinger Foundation Football Hall of Fame inductee previously served as defensive line coach at Robert Morris University, assistant defensive line coach and assistant director of player personnel at Temple University, and defensive line coach at West Chester University.

Kristin E. Boyer ’13 was inducted into the WCU Athletics Hall of Fame for field hockey in April.

Alexandra H. Bradley ’13 was inducted into the WCU Athletics Hall of Fame for women’s basketball in April.

Kaley M. LaFleur ’13 was inducted into the WCU Athletics Hall of Fame for women’s gymnastics in April.

Tyler Dorso ’15, CPA, has been promoted to manager at Belfint, Lyons & Shuman, P.A., where he specializes in assisting individuals and small businesses within multiple industries with tax planning, compliance, and financial statement services. He regularly assists with recruiting, the summer internship Program, and training rotational team members and is an active member of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA) and Delaware Society of CPAs (DSCPA).

Samantha A. Jeune ’17 and Odette Kolenky ’17 are co-authors of Success at a Price: Women of Color Students at a White University (University of Georgia Press) with WCU Dr. Lisa Huebner, WCU professor of women’s and gender studies. They were also keynote speakers at WCU’s 2026 Sisters of Excellence Conference.

2020s

Alexandra Davis ’23, PA-C, joined Dermatology Partners’ Kutztown practice. A National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) board-certified physician assistant and proud Berks County native, Davis previously practiced at Penn State Health Exeter Family Practice, delivering comprehensive care to patients of all ages, managing chronic conditions, and treating urgent care needs.
