The Center for GIS and Spatial Analysis has more than 15 years of experience providing mapping, GIS, and spatial analysis services to the West Chester University community, local agencies, and businesses. In collaboration with the University's Center for Community Solutions and other University partners, we connect our faculty, students and geospatial resources to serve the needs of the regional community.
Our clients include public agencies, private companies, community-based organizations, and not-for-profit entities. Clients have included West Chester Borough, the West Chester Business Improvement District (BID), the West Chester Chamber of Commerce, West Whiteland Township, East Fallowfield Township, Art Partners Studio, the Borough of Oxford, Borough of Parksburg, the Borough of South Coatesville, Brandywine Valley Association, Chester County 2020, Chester County Economic Development Council, Chester County Historical Society, the City of Harrisburg, East Bradford Township Forest Restoration Program, Fame Firestation Co, Gordon Natural Area, Marple Township, Natural Land Trust, New Castle County, Newtown Township, Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, Upper Makefield Township, and Philadelphia Water Department among others.
We have provided services in a variety of areas, including: 3-D modeling, business analytics, census analysis and mapping, land use planning, disaster planning, georeferencing, raster analysis, hydrological modeling, ecological analysis, equity planning and assessment, spatial optimization, urban greening, and web mapping and website development, and StoryMap development, using a broad arrange of tools with public, private and our own generated data.
Recent examples of some of our Faculty-led projects include the development of a 3-D Urban Model for the West Whiteland Township, an online interactive map of members of the West Chester Business Improvement District (BID) and the West Chester Chamber of Commerce, a Retail Market Analysis for East Fallowfield Township, an analysis of a Revitalization plan for the Borough of South Coatesville and Zoning Amendments to incorporate Fair Housing provisions and other updates; a locational area analysis for the Fame Fire Station Company; coordination of the WCU Sustainability Advisory Council.
