Summer 2020 Orientation Information for First-Year Students

Following guidelines issued by the State System of Higher Education, we are currently working to deliver orientation programs remotely as outlined below. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our office at (610) 436-3305 or

Research shows orientation is a vital component in helping students make the transition from high school to college. While orientation will look a little different this year, we still strongly believe in the important role it will play in your success. Our goal is to provide you with programs that allow you to:

  • Connect with other new students
  • Learn about your new campus
  • Hear about life in the residence halls or commuting to WCU
  • Have your questions answered, and
  • Find the resources you need to be a successful Golden Ram

Complete an Online Orientation Component

This summer, we will email each new student a link to your online orientation experience. This online program has been created for you, as well as any individuals who may be supporting you to and through your college transition, such as friends, family, or mentors. The online orientation experience is designed to introduce you to the campus, its departments and its people, and to serve as a resource you can go back to again and again as you get ready to become a Golden Ram this fall.

Participate in Live Virtual Programs

Your online orientation experience will include virtual, live, and interactive components with your peers, student leaders and key staff members. Dates and times for these virtual programs are being finalized and will be announced very soon! Complete details will be posted here and emailed to all new students via your WCU email.

Participate in Welcome Weekend

Decisions are being made regarding the status of Welcome Weekend programs. New Student Programs will continue to follow the guidelines set by the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education in response to the changing COVID-19 situation. Updates will be posted here and sent to new students via your WCU email.
