Small Group Training

Our small group sessions pop up throughout the year and offer opportunities for all to get active outside of the recreation center walls! We like to offer programs that are a little different than the typical group exercise classes in hopes to re-energize our normal rec attendees and also excite new participants to join. These sessions are shorter in duration and are frequently based around the change of seasons. Even more exciting, a lot of these sessions are linked to an upcoming event! Check out what small group sessions we have coming up next below.

The Final Bootcamp

Need a break from cramming for finals? Join us for a one-hour boot camp series to help break up your day of studying and do something healthy for yourself! We're offering two 30 minute sessions, one using the MAC court and the other using the indoor track. You can choose to sign up for one or both sessions! Free and open to all, but space is limited to get signed up!

  • When: Dec. 9th (Sunday), 12:00-1:00pm
  • Where: SRC mac court & track

CHAARG UP for HOMECOMING

Looking for a healthy way to get CHAARGed up for Homecoming? Join Campus Recreation and CHAARG for a pregame like no other on November 2nd from 7-9PM! Come get a sweat sesh in before the weekend's festivities begin. CHAARG is a national women's health and wellness organization with a newly formed chapter at WCU. It stands for "Changing health, attitudes and actions to recreate girls," and aims to help female students find their fit by exposing them to a variety of unique workouts each week, as well as providing a support system of positive, like-minded women.

RAM Fit Challenge

Turkey Trot Training

Ready to get in shape before the holidays? Train with with us in our version of a couch-to-5k leading up to our annual Turkey Trot. We'll gradually work up to running a full 5k by the end of our training making it possible for those at any fitness level to participate. Never ran before but want to start? This is the perfect opportunity to learn the techniques to properly train your body to a leaner, fitter, and faster you! Along with the this session, enjoy yoga sessions courtesy of Local Yoga on Wednesdays at rec center starting at noon.

  • When: September 18th thru November 6th, every Tuesday and Friday from 6:15-7:15 am
  • Where: Starting at the rec center and heading out to tour the town and get fit doing it
  • Cost: $25/person
