Program Overview
After learning to read, you read to learn for the rest of your life. Strong literacy skills--including reading, writing, and listening skills--are critical to success in all grades, education institutions, and careers. The 18-credit Literacy minor is available to all university students regardless of major, and includes core courses followed by a choice of focus: Early & Middle Grades Education; Secondary Education; or Family & Community Literacy. A minor in Literacy will enhance your transcript, round out your academic experience, and provide you with highly sought-after skills. Participating in the minor program also makes students eligible to join WCU's local chapter of the ILA's honor society, Alpha Upsilon Alpha (AUA).
