Greetings!
On behalf of Information Services & Technology (IS&T), I’m happy to share Fall 2019
edition of IS&T Newsletter providing a glimpse into the campuswide efforts to improve
IT services and investment in technologies that support WCU’s current and future needs
facilitating excellence in teaching and learning. There’s much to share about our
mobile and cloud strategy adopting O365 services including ongoing migration to Exchange
Online for email and calendaring system, collaborative work with campus partners on
RamCard initiative, and a new strategic approach partnering with institutional leadership
to
strengthen our cybersecurity including training and awareness campaigns across campus
departments.
As the institution has grown, added engineering and doctoral programs, creating facilities with next-generation classrooms providing dense WIFI and multimedia technology including wireless collaboration tools and re-organized its operations to better support WCU mission, IS&T has also re-organized to align with its mission of supporting student success through strategic information technology. We are working towards consolidating our IT Service Management capabilities combining ticketing systems used by IT Help Desk and other service areas to maximize efficiency and effectiveness for cross-functional teams. Also, we are starting to replace our traditional campus telephone systems moving in the direction of integrated voice, video and collaboration which will provide enhanced call center technologies for our student services offices.
I hope you will find this newsletter enlightening as we streamline IS&T communications building awareness around topics of interest for the campus community. I continue to learn from all of you, and your feedback keeps me aware of the issues that are top of mind for you and the community we support—so please continue to reach out with questions, suggestions or ideas.
