About
Dr. Jenifer Hummer began her educational career teaching secondary mathematics in New York City public schools for nine years. She then transitioned to an education administrator role, where she supported over 30 public secondary schools with instruction and operations for two years. Dr. Hummer earned her Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Mathematics Education from the University of Delaware before joining West Chester University. At WCU, she teaches courses in STEM teaching methods, advanced perspectives of secondary mathematics, action research in education, and secondary education teaching methods. Additionally, she supervises student teachers. Dr. Hummer’s research focuses on supporting pre-service teachers in engaging in continuous improvement processes like lesson study, connecting advanced mathematics to secondary mathematics, and integrating STEM. Through her teaching and research, she is dedicated to advancing equity and increasing diversity in STEM fields.
