Biography
Dr. McLaughlin holds a Ph.D. from Temple University in Educational Psychology, M.Ed. from Penn State in Curriculum and Instruction, and B.S.Ed. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Elementary Education. Before coming to West Chester, Dr. McLaughlin taught at Kutztown University and the State University of New York at Oneonta. Prior to college teaching, Dr. McLaughlin served as an elementary classroom teacher.

Publications and Professional Activities
Dr. McLaughlin’s main scholarly interests are in the areas of educational psychology, assessment, and research methods. In particular, he is interested in how psychological and cultural factors of teaching and learning contribute to successful classroom practice.
Since 2004, Dr. McLaughlin has maintained an ongoing professional relationship with schools and teachers in the Quiché area of Guatemala. He has visited Guatemala four times and, in his classes at West Chester, has incorporated professional dialogue with Guatemalan students and teachers.
