West Chester University’s Wells School of Music will present a free, public concert of the Wind Ensemble on Sunday, March 26 at 3 p.m. in Madeleine Wing Adler Theater, Swope Music Building and Performing Arts Center, 817 S. Under the direction of Andrew Yozviak, the WCU Wind Ensemble will be joined by two high school ensembles from Pittsburgh and Philadelphia for the Second Annual “East Meets West” Wind Band Invitational. The Wind Ensemble will perform the grandiose compositions American Overture by Joseph Wilcox Jenkins and Audivi Media Nocte by Oliver Waespi as well as In Pieces by Hannah Lash and Manifestos by Paul Dooley.
The WCU Wind Ensemble is one of the Wells School of Music’s premier ensembles and is composed of 45 of the finest graduate and undergraduate wind and percussion musicians at WCU. As an ensemble, the group represents WCU at conventions and performs in high schools throughout the region. This prestigious group is one of four symphonic wind bands sponsored by the University and many new works have been commissioned by the Ensemble in recent years.
