WCU's DepT. of Art + Design Showcases Student and Faculty Work in Public ExhibitBig Student Show

The Department of Art + Design is covering the inside of the E.O. Bull Center with art! The Big Student Show, which will be housed in the John H. Baker Gallery - E.O. Bull Center, 2 E. Rosedale Ave., West Chester - will include works of all media from students and faculty alike. The exhibition will open on March 7, 2023, and run through April 5th, 2023. The exhibition can be viewed Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm. A reception for the exhibit will be held on March 30th from 4:00 to 7:00pm in the John H. Baker Gallery. All are welcome and encouraged to come celebrate our student and faculty success!

The Big Student Show will be an extensive and wide-ranging exhibition featuring art created by students and faculty members of the Department or Art + Design. The show will display highlights from literally every class offered in the vibrant Art + Design program – from freshman to senior, from graphic and interactive design to studio art, such as sculpture and printmaking. Centered in the Baker Gallery, artwork from The Big Student Show will also be found throughout the entire E.O. Bull Center.

“We are really excited about The Big Student Show because it gives us the opportunity to present our students to the wider university community and the West Chester area,” says Kris Benedict, Associate Professor of Art. “I have a feeling that most people think of art students as ‘natural talents’ and don't realize how rigorous and challenging their training is. This exhibition may surprise some people as they notice students building skills and concepts over time in the discipline. The artwork in the show is energetic, weird, funny, sincere, impassioned, and moving.”
