Embracing the SECC’s Nutrition Lab: Senior Mackenzie Souchek
Mackenzie Souchek developed an interest in gardening and healthy foods at a young age. Her fascination grew even more when she worked as a dietary aide while earning her associate of science degree. Now a senior at WCU, Souchek has embraced the new Sciences and Engineering Center and the Commons (SECC) building, especially the nutrition lab.
In addition to being a coach with the Nutrition Department’s Ram Chefs, she is also a College of Health Sciences Ambassador in the Food Lab, vice president of the Student Dietetic Association, and more.
Last summer, Souchek worked as a research intern at Iowa State University as well as traveling to Honduras to study abroad. Souchek has been accepted to Iowa State’s Master of Professional Practice in Dietetics program.
