Art + Design Students Win National Awards at Design CompetitionFlux Award winners

Eight WCU students in the Department of Art + Design brought home eleven awards for their graphic and interactive design work at the Flux Student Design Competition held on Friday, February 3, in Baltimore, Maryland. Two WCU students won top awards.

Flux is a nationwide competition presented annually by the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA.) Students are recognized for outstanding design work in seven categories: identity, packaging, poster, publication, social impact design, UX/UI (user experience/user interface design) and video/motion graphics. This year’s 631 entries made for the most competitive Flux competition to date.

This year, WCU students received two “Best in Category” awards. The list of winners includes:

Best in Category Awards:

  • Social Impact Design: Paije Carbonell: Raise the Bar
  • Video/Motion Graphics: Emily Dana: Two Moons

Identity Category:

  • Abigail Gerber: Two Birds One Scone Food Truck
  • Abigail Gerber: Villa Di Luna
  • Tully Ryan: Unscroll

Packaging Category:

  • Isabella Esposito: Mount Olympus Cosmetics

Video/Motion Graphics Category:

  • Paije Carbonell: Fun-Lucky
  • Paije Carbonell: Raise the Bar
  • Bree Dillon: Etch
  • Colleen Grant: Blinding
  • Tully Ryan: Tickled Pink
