Homeward Arts Fest. ’22: Multi-Disciplinary Arts Events and Craft Show March 21 – April 2

West Chester University’s Department of Art + Design opens HOMEWARD ARTS FEST. ’22 with events and an exhibit taking place March 21 through April 2 in the John H. Baker Gallery, E.O. Bull Center for the Arts, 2 E. Rosedale Avenue, West Chester. The exhibit is FREE and open to the public from Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Certain events, listed below, will be offered outside of gallery hours.Homeward Arts Fest.

HOMEWARD ARTS FEST. is a cross discipline, participatory exhibition, with performances, workshops, and a craft show; all coordinated by WCU professors in the College of Arts and Humanities. With a theme of, “What is art? We are art!,” its purpose is to raise awareness, provide opportunities, and promote community engagement through the arts. Events celebrating art in all its forms are planned throughout the festival and include:

Associate Professor of Art Andrew Snyder says, “The three collaborators on this show – Constance Case, Maria Urrutia, and myself - wanted to provide a show that is inviting to students and less formal than most gallery exhibitions. Homeward Arts Fest. is a community engagement event to make the gallery a familiar and accessible space for students. Our hope is that students will join us for the many events we have planned during the week of 3/28 to 4/2.

Events include:

  • March 21 – April 2 – Natural Habitat on view during regular gallery hours, featuring Homeward artists’ utilitarian objects
  • March 28 at 3:30 p.m. – Planter workshop with Andrew Snyder
  • March 29 at 3:30 p.m. – Needlework workshop with Constance Case
  • March 29 at 7 p.m. – Dance performances with WCU Alumni and Bethany Formica
  • March 30 at 7 p.m. – Poetry recital with Luke Stromberg, Janie McNeil, Alecc Constanzi and Jule Coppa
  • March 31 at 3:30 p.m. – Movement workshop with Maria Urrutia
  • March 31 at 7:00 p.m. – Open mic
  • April 2 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. – Craft Show
  • April 1 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. – Band performances

March 7 – April 8, 2022: JEREMY HOLMES: RECENT WORKS with OPENING RECEPTION on March 24, 2022 - Knauer Gallery, Swope Music Building and Performing Arts Center, 817 S. High Street, West Chester. Viewings Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

April 20 – May 16, 2022: BFA SENIOR SHOW with OPENING RECEPTION on April 21, 2022 - John H. Baker Gallery, E.O. Bull Center for the Arts, 2 E. Rosedale Avenue, West Chester, and Knauer Gallery, Swope Music Building and Performing Arts Center, 817 S. High Street, West Chester. Viewings Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
