Wells School of Music’s Wind Ensemble to Perform FREE Public Concert on October 31
West Chester University’s esteemed Wind Ensemble out of the Wells School of Music will perform a FREE public concert on Sunday, October 31 at 3 p.m. in the Madeleine Wing Adler Theatre, Swope Music Building and Performing Arts Center, 817 S. High Street, West Chester. The concert is also available via livestream at: https://vimeo.com/wsom.
Under the direction of professor Andrew Yozviak, the Wind Ensemble program features the unmistakable Latin American rhythms of Oscar Navarro’s Downey Overture. The ensemble will also present the world premiere of a concerto for saxophone and wind ensemble by West Chester University professor and Director of Jazz Studies Jonathan Ragonese. Jules Strens' Danse Funambulesque completes this rhythmically charged performance.
The WCU Wind Ensemble is composed of 45 of the finest wind and percussion players at WCU. As a premier ensemble, the group represents WCU at conventions and performs in high schools throughout the region. Many new works have been commissioned by the Ensemble in recent years.
All faculty, staff, students, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth when indoors. Face masks may be worn when outdoors, but it is not an obligation of this policy notice. Mask and COVID-19 safety measures at West Chester University will continue to be updated here.
