Early Childhood Education Programs Earn National RankingsEarly Childhood Education Programs Earn National Rankings

With West Chester University’s deep roots in teacher preparation, it’s no surprise that our Early and Middle Grades Education programs recently earned notable national rankings.

The website DiscoverEarlyChildhoodEdu.org has listed WCU’s Early and Middle Grades Education programs at #10 among the 2020 Top 65 Best Colleges with Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Bachelor’s Programs and #36 on their list of 2020’s Top 75 Early Childhood Education Master’s Programs in the United States.

Another national ranking: WCU is #15 on BestColleges.com’s 2020 list of the Best Accredited Online Master’s in Early Childhood Education Programs.

For 2020, Collegeaffordabilityguide.org ranks WCU at #27 among early childhood education programs. Their list includes community colleges.

At Universities.com, WCU is #6 among Best Early Childhood Ed Colleges in Pennsylvania for 2020 and #12 in the state for all education and liberal arts degrees.

“I am so proud of these accomplishments, but I am absolutely not surprised!” said Desha L. Williams, Dean of the College of Education and Social Work.

“I have often been asked, ‘Why do you care about rankings?’ and ‘Why do you promote rankings.’ My answer is this: Rankings are one indication of the phenomenal work of our faculty and the fabulous learning opportunities provided to our students. WCU teacher candidates experience extensive time in the field, learning how to be flexible in the ever-changing educational landscape, and how to engage diverse learners through impactful educative experiences. Graduates of our educational programs are highly sought after by school districts and many return to West Chester to obtain advanced degrees.”
