WCU Alumni Association has an Eggcellent Idea that Benefits Oscar Lasko YMCA Family Food Bag Distribution
The West Chester University Alumni Association (WCUAA) recently found itself in the middle of a hard place and, well, 500 candy-filled eggs…. Each year the West Chester University Alumni Association organizes a fun-filled Rammy Easter Egg Hunt for the children of West Chester University Alumni. Anticipating numerous little ones for an egg hunt that features the University’s beloved and furry mascot, Rammy, the WCUAA prepared 500 plastic eggs filled with candies and stickers. Like many activities taking place across the nation these days, however, the egg hunt had to be cancelled due to the critical need to practice social distancing amid a global public health outbreak.
Thinking quickly and generously, the WCUAA transformed the dilemma into a perfect opportunity to treat numerous families in the community to delicious egg-filled candies! The WCUAA donated and delivered the 500 egg treats to the Oscar Lasko YMCA in West Chester on Tuesday, April 7. The Oscar Lasko YMCA is now adding the eggs to bags that will be distributed to area families in-need.
“Times today have been especially challenging for children and families all across the globe,” said Director of West Chester University Alumni Engagement Jenna Birch. “The West Chester University Alumni Association wishes to let those in our community know that they are in our thoughts and that we are here for them. Our Ram family always has room for many more.”
In addition to the traditional Rammy Easter Egg Hunt, the West Chester University Alumni Association organizes a variety of engaging events throughout the year that welcome community members, as well as WCU alumni, including an Evening with Santa, Princess and Superhero Brunch, and more.
