West Chester University’s Class of 2023 is scheduled to come in for a smooth landing. Unpacking suitcases, laptops, mini-refrigerators, and all the essentials needed for college life, WCU first-year students will move into their on-campus residence halls on Friday, August 23, between 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Among those helping the first-year students move-in from 9-11 a.m. will be WCU President Chris Fiorentino & Mrs. Fiorentino, and PA State System of Higher Education Chancellor Dan Greenstein, who will be stationed at Killinger Hall, located at 115 W. Rosedale Ave. (Upperclassmen will start moving into their WCU residence halls on Saturday, August 24, between 9 am – 5 pm.) The first day of classes for all WCU students will be Monday, August 26.

The University expects fall 2019 enrollment to exceed fall 2018 enrollment, which totaled 17,552 undergraduate and graduate students.  Virtually 100% of the University’s anticipated growth is at the graduate level through online Distance Education offerings. Official fall 2019 enrollment numbers will be available on the 15th day of class.

During orientation registration this year, 38% of WCU’s new first-year students self-reported as first-generation college students; these students will be the first in their families to complete a bachelor’s degree. As part of a continued university-wide initiative, first-generation college students will be welcomed at special WCU First tables stationed in each of the eight residence halls. New first-generation college students will receive a WCU 1st t-shirt, welcome letter from President Fiorentino, and a folder filled with on-campus resources designed to make the college transition easier to navigate. Throughout the year, programs will be offered to the students that foster a strong support network, and connect them directly to their peers and members of the campus community. This is the second year that members of Student Affairs and Academic Affairs have collaborated to launch the highly successful program.
