The Performing Arts Series Presents World-Class Touring Artists in a Variety of Disciplines

A thrilling season of music, dance, distinguished speakers and fun family entertainment is planned for West Chester University’s 25th Anniversary season of WCU Live!, a performing arts series programmed with the community in mind. Featuring the best of touring, international artists, ten events are planned from October, 2019, through April of 2020. For information visit www.wcupa.edu/wcuLive. John Rhein, Director of Cultural and Community Affairs at West Chester University says, “We invite all members of our surrounding community to come onto West Chester’s campus to experience the arts with us! The quality onstage rivals that of anything in Philadelphia or New York and tickets cost a fraction of what you’d pay in those cities. Plus, our state-of-the art venues are both intimate and comfortable.”

This fall, BROADWAY ROX comes to West Chester on October 5 with a new, upbeat live concert that celebrates the contemporary musicals of Broadway. Saturday, October 12, National Public Radio’s NINA TOTENBERG shares her seasoned reflections on America’s top legal issues as part of the President’s Speaker Series. On October 18, MASTERS OF SOUL will take you on a stroll down memory lane by performing the legendary songs that defined Motown and soul music. November 2 brings JASON BISHOP, the virtuoso magician whose stunning magic is delivered with a modern twist. NOBUNTU, the internationally acclaimed female a cappella quintet from Zimbabwe, comes to town on November 16.

 In the spring, FLAMENCO VIVO, the show heralded by The New York Times as having “bursts of brilliance” takes the stage on February 7. MISSOULA CHILDREN’S THEATRE COMPANY returns to West Chester for the 13th year. They will once again recruit 50 local children to stage an original musical adaptation of The Emperor’s New Clothes on March 14. An audience favorite is the annual show featuring trained rescue dogs. This season, JOHNNY PEERS & THE MUTTVILLE COMIX comes to West Chester on March 21. TAMAGAWA UNIVERSITY TAIKO DRUMMING and DANCE TROUPE thunders into West Chester on March 29th. Finally, the beloved HENRY WINKLER comes to our campus as part of the President’s Speaker Series on April 25. He will share humorous anecdotes and inspirational life lessons from his storied career in entertainment.
