W.W. Smith Charitable Trust Awards $126,000 Scholarship Program Grant To West Chester University
Award Marks 30 Consecutive Years of Supporting WCU Students
The W. W. Smith Charitable Trust has awarded a $126,000 scholarship program grant to West Chester University (WCU) for the 2019-2020 academic year in a continued effort to provide financial assistance to WCU students for tuition, room, board, or books. For 30 years, W.W. Smith Trust has supported student success at West Chester University by generously contributing a total of $3.17 million in scholarships.
The W.W. Smith Charitable Trust is a private foundation established by William Wikoff Smith in 1977. The Trust makes grants in the Greater Philadelphia region to support basic needs, college scholarships, maritime heritage preservation, and medical research primarily in heart disease, cancer, and AIDS.
“Since its inception, the Trust has made an intentional commitment to make funds available to numerous deserving students in the Commonwealth,” said West Chester University President Christopher Fiorentino. “Of these generous awards, it is equally significant to note and recognize the Trust’s support of West Chester University students for 30 consecutive years. As WCU works to provide the tools that students need to excel in today’s world, the assistance from W.W. Smith Trust is truly invaluable. All of us are deeply grateful.”
