WCU Excels at A Cappella Quarterfinals
The vocal prowess of West Chester University’s a cappella groups Under A Rest and High Street Harmonix proved unbeatable at the Mid-Atlantic Quarterfinals of the Varsity Vocals International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA).
At the Feb 16 competition, held in WCU’s Asplundh Concert Hall, Under A Rest won the night and High Street Harmonix was second. Members of both groups swept all four special awards:
High Street Harmonix: Kyle Loedel was named Outstanding Soloist for “Say Amen” and Andrew Bollenbach was named Outstanding Vocal Percussion for the entire set.
Under A Rest: Spencer Camacho won Outstanding Arrangement for the entire set and John Bilcik won Outstanding Choreography for the entire set.
Next for the groups is the ICCA Mid-Atlantic Semi-Final at the Grand Opera House in Wilmington, DE, on Saturday, March 30.
