Spring 2024 PTW design challenge
For our inaugural challenge, the Professional and Technical Writing Minor wants you to create an informative poster (11x17) that celebrates the history and legacy of a West Chester University institution: Banana Day!
Eligibility
To enter, you must be meet at least one of these requirements:
- You are currently enrolled as a student in the Professional and Technical Writing Minor.
- You are currently taking (or have taken in the past year) at least one of the following
courses in the PTW Minor:
- WRH 225 (Introduction to Professional and Technical Writing)
- WRH 341 (Visual Cultures)
- WRH 365 (Writing in the Health Professions)
- ENG 320 (Usability & User Experience)
- ENG 368 (Business & Organizational Writing)
- ENG 371 (Technical Writing)
Rules and Guidelines
- Each submission must have been created by the student submitting it.
- You can only submit one entry.
- AI-generated and AI-assisted art are prohibited from submission. Submitting AI art will disqualify the student from the competition.
- Submissions must connect to the design contest prompt. Submissions that are unrelated to the prompt will be disqualified.
- Email your entry as a PDF file to WCUDesignChallenge@gmail.com.
Deadline
The deadline to enter is Friday, March 8, 2024, at 5 p.m.
Criteria
A panel of faculty teaching in the Professional and Technical Writing Minor will evaluate each entry on the basis of how well it meets these standards:
- accuracy of information about Banana Day's history and legacy
- quality of the overall design
- purposeful, appropriate use of the WCUPA Student Affairs Style Guide and WCUPA brand guidelines and standards
- adherence to the required dimensions of the poster (11x17, 1-sided only)
Prizes
The winning submissions will be revealed at this year's Banana Day festivities. We will offer cash prizes to the top two submissions:
- 1st Place: $400
- 2nd Place: $100
