West Chester University
West Chester, PA 19383
Location: Recitation Hall (second floor)
The WCU Reading Center is a resource to the university and surrounding West Chester communities. The center serves learners from first grade to high school adolescents who are experiencing literacy (e.g. reading, writing, spelling, comprehending) difficulties. Faculty members from the Literacy Department provide teacher education to pre-service and in-service teachers about how to assess and provide differentiated instruction to striving readers and writers. Because strong literacy practices involve both school and home participation, the Reading Center also works to develop a partnership with home representatives (i.e., parents, caregivers) regarding literacy learning.
