Make an AppointmentThere are several ways to introduce your classes to the writing center:
Bring us in for a class visit. Introductory presentations offer a basic overview of the center's purpose and how students can take advantage of this service while at WCU. We also offer workshops on peer reviewing, topic selection, citation reviews, and more. Contact Margaret Ervin to schedule a presentation.
Put us on your syllabus! Here is a sample of what you might include for your students:
The Writing Center, at FHG Library Room 251
The Writing Center's purpose is to help you become a better writer and so should play an important, consistent role in your educational plan while you're at WCU. Here is what you can expect at the Writing Center:
- a free, 25-minute or 50-minute session with a trained and highly-qualified writing tutor;
- a friendly environment offering one-to-one attention; and
- discussions about planning, drafting, and revising papers and projects for any class.
I encourage you to take any type of writing assignment to the Writing Center, where you will get help developing writing skills vital to your success. You can make an appointment online by visiting wcupa.edu/writingcenter. You should plan ahead to take advantage of this benefit, as the appointment schedule routinely fills up rapidly.
