The Society of WCU is dedicated to honoring excellence, service, and leadership across our campus community. Through our recognition awards, we celebrate those who uplift others and carry forward a legacy of service and leadership. We invite you to submit a nomination for our annual awards: Drum Major for Justice Award and Larry Dowdy Community Service Award. Recipients will be honored during the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration in January.

Lawrence Dowdy Community Service Award Description: The Larry Dowdy Community Service Award is presented to a past or present WCU staff member who, through their personal and or professional efforts, consistently demonstrates an unyielding dedication to service and has been inspirational in the lives of WCU faculty, staff, administrators, and students.

Drum Major for Justice Award Description: The Society’s Drum Majors for Justice are Alumni who, through their personal and or professional efforts have exemplified themselves as pillars of the community. They are individuals who serve as role models, leaders in their field, and are actively involved in improving the world around them.
