WCU’s master in communication looks at communication theories and teaches you to apply them in everyday situations. From leadership and conflict resolution to visual communication and strategic media content, the M.A. in Communication will give you the skills you need to take your career to the next level.
The M.A. in Communication Studies program at WCU offers students access to applied communication foundations in topics including persuasion, risk communication, power and social change, public address competence, and more – along with practical strategies from coursework on visual communication, PR writing, media technology, media representation, and media production. Students work closely with their advisors to create a customized elective course plan specific to their needs, resulting in graduates positioned for success in high demand industries.

The M.A. in Communication Studies program was designed for working professionals and offers both in-person and online courses.
Classes are taught by skilled faculty who are active researchers, connected to industry, and eager for opportunities to work with students on communication projects.
Students can focus their coursework in applied communication, media communication, or even design a program that gives them a toolkit from both areas.
We also offer a 12-credit Certificate in Digital Media Marketing that can be completed on its own or as part of the larger M.A. program.
