Philanthropy Education and Community Engagement

Mission

The mission of Philanthropy Education and Community Engagement (P.E.A.C.E.), is to provide funding, awareness, and support for local and global organizations. We work in conjunction with the Honors College to support Mosiac and Nkosi’s Haven, two global organizations, as well as Wings for Success, a local organization.

Nkosi’s Haven is a non-governmental organization located in Johannesburg South Africa that provides holistic care for women and children with HIV/AIDS. They have recently opened their doors to support gender-based violence survivors. Their goal is to “continue Nkosi’s legacy by providing care for individuals that are oppressed, abused, and overlooked by the broader society.” As of 2023, they support 35 women and 82 children. Some of their current efforts include: Helping pregnant teens and abused women, building an onsite preschool, building additional cottages, and more.

Mosaic’s vision is to develop and implement a self-sustainable model that supports foster moms caring for orphans and vulnerable children in South Africa. Some of their current programs are: Creating businesses to provide job opportunities, job training, building houses and community centers, after-school programs, counseling, and more. They currently have three townships in South Africa and impact over 30,000 orphans and vulnerable children in Africa.

Wings for Success is an organization based in West Chester County that empowers women and girls in need to achieve career and economic stability through education, apparel, and advocacy. They offer clothing programs, help with job placements, one-on-one advice sessions, a variety of workshops, and employment resources. Wing’s For Success supports over 1,300 women annually in need of these resources regardless of their situation.
