The evening’s concert is directed by WCU faculty members Daniel Cherry and Robert Skoniczin. It will feature performances by both the trombone choir and the WCU Brass Ensemble, which brings together trumpets, trombones, horns, euphoniums, tubas, and percussion, in a program celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States and honoring our Veterans.

The University welcomes veterans, military families, members of the WCU community and residents throughout the region to join in this special evening of music and recognition.

The program will feature a selection of American favorites, including John Williams' Liberty Fanfare, Morton Gould's American Salute, Edward Hoffman's Between Heaven and Earth, Bob Lowden's arrangement of Armed Forces Salute, America the Beautiful, John Philip Sousa's Liberty Bell March and Bill Conti's iconic Gonna Fly Now from the film Rocky. The WCU Trombone Choir will also perform several selections as part of the evening.

A special highlight will be the performance of Armed Forces Salute, honoring the men and women who have served in the United States military. Veterans in attendance will be invited to stand and be recognized as the musical theme representing their respective branch of service is performed.
